One of the questions that we are often asked is if you can bring your family pets along to your photoshoot! The answer is yes! We love it when you bring along those additional members of your family! Your pet is an important member of your family and they make your photos feel even more special!

We all have our own dogs and have family pets, so we understand how special it is to bring your family pet along for your family photos. However, we also know that things don’t always go to plan! And you may be wondering what happens when you bring your pet into the studio! You might be worrying about what happens if your pet misbehaves? We can’t say it always goes smoothly, but if you follow our top tips for bringing pets in the studio, we know we can capture timeless images that you will cherish for a lifetime!

Visiting our photography studio

We understand that our studio is a new environment for your pet. You will have full access to the studio on the day of your session. Once you arrive, you will be greeted by your photographer and any other members of staff here on the day, so you don’t need to worry about them coming across any other pets or families. We know once your dog arrives and settles into the session they have fun and enjoy themselves, which is a perfect way to capture their personality.

There are lots of ways for us to include your pet in your studio session. After settling into the studio, we will ask if you want photos of your pet on their own or if they will be in the family photos. You may choose to have them sitting with your baby. If you are here for a newborn session, we will work around your baby and be baby led. We will always ask you when you feel your pet is ready to join the session.

Remember, what works for one pet or baby might not for another. We are more than happy to work with your pet and family to create the images you want. But sometimes on the day, it’s just not possible.

One fun way to include your family pet is to book a Baby’s First Year Package. You will get to watch your little one grow and change next to your family pet – who may already be fully grown. This is a fun and unique way to show how fast your baby grows from a newborn to a one-year-old!

Baby safety and Ways to include your Pets.

Baby safety is always our main priority! You know your own pet and you will be able to tell if they are feeling stressed or generally unhappy in the studio. The safety of your baby and our photographer is the most important part of the session. If on the day we feel that we can’t photograph your baby and pet together, we will capture them separately and edit them together.

You know and understand your pet’s temperament, and what they are like around your little one and food. We love to include your pets in a Cake Smash session, it can be a lot of fun! If you don’t think your pet will be ok around the cake or your baby when they are holding food, we do have baby gates to keep them separate. Our studio is situated in the Northern Quarter – it’s a great place to walk your pet and have a little break.

We want to make sure that your family and your dog feel comfortable and relaxed throughout your session. We want this to be a fun and safe experience for everyone!

Bring their favourite treats & Toys

Your pet will have a favourite treat and toys – bringing them along to the session is a great help! Treats are the perfect way to get your pet into position and to get them to look up at the camera. Don’t worry if you forget, we have some little treats here in the studio.

My dog won’t sit

That’s ok! We get all types of dogs here in the studio. If your dog is using a lead during the session, we can Photoshop that out of the final images. We have ways to get your dog’s attention. And the best pictures don’t need your dog to be sitting for you to love them!

Relax – Remember that it doesn’t always go to plan, but often they make the best photos
